Mechanically, the gun is identical to a CA AK47. Very solidly built, absolutely, positively gorgeous. I would say it looks better than the real-steel Romak in the other room.
THe core is very, very solid as well. Being a Version 2 guy by tradition, I was confused to see the motor contacts soldered on instead of fitted with slip-on terminals, but disassembling the gearbox was still as easy as it gets. The soldered joints are done using a high-quality solder and work miracles to reduce voltage drop across those nasty little slip fittings that are prone to breaking after removal.
The selector tends to become a little worn after a few times apart, which may lead to minor problems with select-fire, but the issue here is that the gun is sturdy enough that it really shouldn't need to be disassembled anyway.
Stock fits a 5,000mAh 9.6v Elite battery pack like it was made for it. THe cells must be arranged in a square, though. Factory motor and gearing exceed 23 rounds/sec with this configuration and still make an intimidating 340FPS.
The hopup adjustment is a little sketchy, but I've never been a fan of the AK47's hopup adjustment slider and this is certainly not the worst I've seen. Once adjusted, the factory barrel and hopup combination will easily group tighter than 16" at 150 feet.
An easy change to this gun is to add in a slightly shorter tightbore barrel, normally a 6.03x594mm, which, paired with a good hop adjustment and .28's, tightens that group at 150 feet to a terrifying 8" or less.
THe Warsaw Pact rail on the side of the receiver will accept all PSO-type scopes, including the PSO1, LPS-Tip2, and EPK-10S sight units.
Surprisingly light and comfortable to use compared to many other LMGs on the field.
Mine is currently in use modified as a DMR, and it excels at the job, while still being capable of turning around and spraying rounds like it's going out of style if the need arises.
YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
